Additionally, it includes details that seem out of place, such as locating Abraham Lincoln’s White House in Springfield, Illinois, and referencing “a couple of dozen peach baskets.” Despite these discrepancies, it presents an enjoyable albeit straightforward story.

In contrast, ChatGPT-4 accurately places the story in Illinois without mentioning the presidency or the White House during Lincoln’s era. However, it later suggests that players from both the North and South set aside their differences to play basketball together, implying a timeframe shortly after the sport’s invention. Despite some paragraphs being overly long to comply with the two-paragraph constraint, ChatGPT-4 emerges victorious due to its adherence to the specified format and overall coherence.

In our assessment, Bard accurately identified the key points (with estimations of Windows 11’s install size typically around 20–30GB) but struggled with the mathematical aspect, suggesting “15.11” floppy disks initially, dismissing it as a “theoretical number,” and ultimately admitting it would require more than 15 disks without computing the exact value.

In contrast, ChatGPT-4 demonstrated sophistication regarding the Windows 11 install size (correctly referencing a 64GB minimum and comparing it to a real-world base installation size), accurately explained floppy capacity, and executed correct multiplication and division to determine 14,222 disks. Although one might debate the nuances of gigabyte conversions, the mathematical approach remained robust. Additionally, it noted the potential variation in the final count based on other factors.
